The DJ

  1. Will you be the DJ personally playing at our wedding?

Miss G Storm DJ is the first DJ we use, so the likelihood is it will be me (Gayle), however we do have alternative DJ’s but this would be divulged at the beginning of the process, not on your wedding day.

  1. Can you describe your style?

My preferred style is out -and-out party style, so getting to play as much upbeat music as possible across the main popular types of music, like Tech House, POP, Motown, DISCO, Dance, HIP HOP, Rock, R’N’B, to name a few. However, if the style you are looking for is different, I find it easy to adapt and play your requests all night, it’s your wedding or party.

  1. Are there any other services that you provide, such as lighting or a photo booth?

Being in the industry I have built up many contacts and I work closely with the ones that have the same high standards and reliability as I do. I can arrange Photo Booths, Up-Lighting, Dance-Floors all subject to availability.

  1. Can you provide me with recent couples that I can contact for references?

I do not give out any of my clients’ personal information, however you can check out some of the testimonials on this website. I will be asking for one from you after your performance has finished.

The Music

  1. Can you help me choose the music for my processional, recessional, father-daughter dance, etc.?

If you need any help with song choices for a part of the day or evening, please just give me a call and I can make recommendations but I am sure you will know what suits best and I would most probably reassure you that your choices are the right ones.

  1. How extensive is your music library or song list? What genres can you cover?

Over 400,000 songs and counting, covering all the genres I can think of. Virtually all of the popular songs since the 1960’s. You can never have everything, but with the technology available today I am confident that I can get any song you want me to play with enough notice. On the night of the performance, maybe not if there is no internet connection for example.

  1. Do you have a go-to list of wedding songs you play or perform for weddings?

I have some basic playlists as a guide that I can send you, but these are just a handful of songs that I know go down well and get the party feet going. I have a head full of songs and they tend to come out when I am DJing and in the ZONE!

  1. How do you keep your music collection up-to-date?

These days it is quite easy, I only have to find the time to get the latest charts, client requests that I don’t have plus a few non-commercial records that are likely to emerge soon.

  1. Do you take any breaks? How many and when?

Generally no, there is not a major reason to take a break as a DJ at a wedding. Yes, to use the W/C, grab some food/refreshment. If a band is playing then I may go outside to catch some fresh air and stretch my legs. Background Music is optional in certain circumstances.

  1. How many DJ’s will perform that day?

85% of the time it will be one DJ, me (Gayle). If the DJ show is a big setup, or we have identified a staircase or any reason that I may need some help carrying equipment then I may have an assistant, who will just be hired help.

  1. Do you act as the emcee and make all of the announcements?

Yes, I am confident on the microphone, but not a pain in the ear. I do not over use the mic as that is not very modern. On average I will announce anything official (cake cutting, first dance, bouquet throwing, etc) then some of the big requests during the evening and an official thank you at the end. Plus anything you ask of me!

  1. How would you define your emcee style?

Steady, Understandable, Polite. But, I am adaptable, if I see that a crowd is appreciating a different style I will automatically slip into a quiet style or party style!

  1. What do you do to motivate the crowd if nobody is dancing?

Firstly, change the genre of music. Then I would go straight to the request list that I have got from my client, this usually works as it can pull a few of the people sitting down to the dancefloor. Next, ask for a request from a guest as some people are shy and need a nudge to make a request. Of course there are natural times at a wedding that the dance floor can go quiet, usually 2 songs after the first dance, as everyone wants to go their own way after the summoning for the special moment.

  1. Do you take requests from our guests?

Absolutely yes, these can be some of the best songs of the evening. However, the whole reason you are choosing a DJ for your wedding is that it is better than an iPod, one of those reasons is that DJ’s can filter out bad requests. We may ask a guest to check with you (our client) first before we play a song as some guests can be very persuasive.

  1. Can we submit a “Do Not Play” list?

Of course, but try not to select genres as it becomes difficult to determine what is acceptable and what is not, please keep it to four of five songs or artists and be very precise, because broad statements can be misleading.

Pricing and Payment

  1. What’s your rate?

It varies and is tailored to each performance and setup with a four hour minimum charge. Additional services are extra like room up-lighting, photo booth etc.

  1. When will I receive a written contract?

Within a reasonable timescale of the booking confirmation, usually within 48 hours but can be up to 14 days depending of the demands on our business and if we are on holiday for example.

  1. How much of a deposit do you require and when is it due? Do you offer a payment plan?

Deposits start from £100 and are due at point of booking and signing contract. Weddings are expensive, so we understand the need to budget payments however we do not offer payment plans and we must have cleared funds on the day of the event.

  1. What is your refund/cancellation policy?

28 days and counting. If you cancel within 4 weeks then 25% of the balance is due, 3 weeks then 50% of the balance is due, 2 weeks then 75% of the balance is due. If you cancel before 28 days then we just keep your booking fee/deposit.

  1. How far in advance do I need to book you for my wedding?

ASAP to secure the date. If we get booked up we cannot be there. No date is secure without a deposit and signed contract. Some weddings are booked 2 years in advance, very rarely do we get a wedding booking less than 6 months in advance.

  1. What information do you need from me before the wedding day?

Please fill in our wedding questionnaire when it is sent to you and everything should be good on the day. We will contact you about anything that we need to know about your questionnaire answers.

  1. Are you insured?

Full PLI insurance up to £1,000,000.

Logistics

  1. Does any of your equipment require special electrical outlets that I need to inform my wedding site about?

No but normally to include lighting I will require two separate wall socket supplies in some circumstances. I will contact the venue in most instances for further arrangements.

  1. Do you set up a sign or banner with your equipment?

Yes. It’s your wedding but showcasing our banner and brand is always appreciated!

  1. How much time will you need for setup, sound check and breakdown on the day of the event?

Setup is minimum 1 Hour. More time can be required for some circumstances. Packing down takes about the same as setting up.

  1. What time will you arrive at the site and when you will you depart?

Arrival time is 1-2 hours before the start time. This is dependent on if we know the venue and how much time we need to setup your package.

  1. Will we meet before the wedding?

Meetings are always available for all Wedding bookings.

  1. When is our deadline for submitting our music requests and event details?

To make sure we have the songs you want us to play we recommend getting your playlist to us 30 days before the wedding.

  1. What will you wear to our wedding?

Our dress code is smart at all times.

  1. Do you have any questions for us?

Probably after going through your event with you, but not usually anything other than logistics and timings.
